I took a leap
Down deep into the waters
Unwary
An ocean of bliss and precariousness
We’ll wade together
He told me

The waves bulged
I was treading currents
Uneasy
Darkness loomed, strong winds pounded
I sought his hand
But I was alone at sea

The waters only got higher
I was floating and drowning
Uneven
The foam filled my lungs I was gasping
It might be the end of me
Bruised and beaten

Then the tide began to ebb
I slowly swam up the shallows
Unbroken
Eyes stinging from the sea water
But heart was still beating
And in the stillness, my soul was awoken

I drew breath
And swam again.
